Our Story

Your home. Your café.

Plate Pillows started in Toronto, where living spaces are small, counters are tight, and every object you bring home has to earn its place. We wanted pieces that did more than look good on a shelf. We wanted pieces that actually lived with you.

The inspiration came from Korea, where cafés exist on every corner and every cup is served like it matters. Growing up surrounded by that culture, café hopping was not just something to do on weekends. It was a ritual. A way of slowing down. And when that feeling was hard to find in a tiny Toronto apartment, we decided to bring it home instead.

That is how Plate Pillows was born. Mugs and plates designed for the home café, where beauty and function are never separate. Pieces that make your kitchen counter feel intentional, your morning feel slower, and your space feel like yours, no matter how small it is.

We are now based in Seattle, still designing for the everyday ritual, still inspired by the warmth of Korean café culture, and still believing that the right mug makes the coffee taste better.

What we believe in

Function is Beauty

In a small space, everything has to work. Our pieces are made to be used every single day, not stored away for special occasions.

The Ritual Matters

A great morning starts with the right objects. We design for the pour, the steam, the first slow sip.

Your Home Café

You should not have to leave your house to feel like you are sitting in your favorite café in Seoul.
